Since getting my OM642 3ltr Jeep Commander tuned by Lars it’s been a pleasure to drive. The power increase was more than I expected and the torque has made towing easy. The big commander feels lighter and more nimble on the road compared to the spongy feel it was. Best money I’ve spent on power increase. And it cheaper on fuel! Faster? More responsive? More torque? More fuel efficient? Go see Lars! Lars is a guy who clearly knows his stuff, enjoys his work and takes care and pride in what he does. He worked his magic on my 2021 Skoda Superb Scout and really transformed the way the car drives. With a stage 1 ECU + DSG tune, the car is much more responsive, on boost faster and thus torquier in all gears - and the gear changes are notably quicker and "smarter". What I wasn't expecting is a marked increase in fuel efficiency when driving "normally" - as the car is quicker to move to higher gears and happier to stay in them due to the increased boost and pulling power at lower revs. This has led to an improvement of around 1 litre/100km around town and even more at highway speeds. On overtaking or merging to highway speeds, it responds much faster and pulls harder than before. Moving into "sport" mode, things get *significantly* more spicy than stock, with it being markedly quicker off the line and through the gears when driving hard - and it is great to have more of a difference between the two modes. Delighted with the results from such a relatively small investment and have completely scratched the "upgrade itch", whilst keeping the same car I have had from new for 5 years now.
I have known Lars for a while now, recently I had a check engine light showing on my vehicle and Lars offered to take a look at it, because its a Mclaren he was not 100% familiar with the ins and out of the vehicle took a while to get it connected to his diagnostic tool scanner. Firstly that caused christmas lights showing on my dash and blinkers not showing but working, ac stopped working etc. Secondly when he removed my engine bay cover, because it was his first time removing it. I was supporting the lid from one end whilst he was trying to pull the latch off as it was stuck. He left a huge scratch on my engine bay. We did not rectify any issues and I ended up taking my vehicle to the dealership where was told the unauthorised scanner had cause the dash ecu to lock itself. When i inform Lars of the huge scratch, he simply wrote a long spin off email basically telling me it was my fault and diverting attention stating that he wanted mclaren to write a letter to stay that his scanner cause my dash to lock up with christmas lights. To sum it up I will not be referring anymore clients to Lars anymore as this was a cowboy job. If Lars was not confident or have any experienced on the vehicle he should have denied service to protect his liability but instead always has the attitude of wanting to trial and error on clients vehicles. I am extremely dissapointed he has damaged my car and refuse to recify the scratch. We will be taking this further with the Motor vehicle disputes tribunal on this matter until resolved. I will add that I am already expecting a long list of descriptive spin off trying to justify what he did and there was no wrong doing.
