Our family has relied on Horsman for the last 15+ years, because of the high quality of the work and the honesty and friendliness of the owners, Pete and Billy. We probably first became aware of Horsman because they were and are a top (THE top) AAA-approved auto repair facility in the county. And then it didn’t take long for us to become loyal and longtime customers. Before we found Horsman, I would dread car repairs, because I so often felt like I might be getting ripped off or upsold. I admittedly know nothing about cars or car repairs; I wouldn’t even venture to change the oil. So I am vulnerable to being deceived at a car repair facility, as I have no idea if the work that was being quoted was all actually necessary. Trust is thus paramount. And from the very high customer reviews and their status as a top AAA-approved repair facility, I had a high level of trust in Horsman. But having been to other AAA-approved shops when out of town, it’s clear that Horsman is elite even among the quality AAA repair facilities. And then dealing with Pete and Billy over the years has solidified the trust we as a family have in Horsman. Over the years they have often told us when work was not required, and when times have been tighter financially, they have been very helpful in advising us how we can triage the car work (explaining which repair needs are immediate, and which can be put off for a few paychecks or even just monitored). And in the very rare instances where a repair may not have worked as expected (perhaps due to an issue with the part received from the supplier, rather than any issue with the work performed by Horsman), they have always made it right and clearly care about keeping the customers happy and treating them fairly. Yes, their prices may not be the absolute lowest on every service, but you can have confidence that you are being charged fairly, that what you pay allows them to employ experienced and skilled mechanics (and maintain a clean and comfortable facility), and that no corners will be cut. Also, since you can have faith that they’ll never recommend an unneeded repair to pad the bill, and they won’t try to upsell you to increase margins, you likely won’t end up paying any more in the long run than if you went with the “cheaper” (and less reputable) places, and you can have confidence that only needed work was done and that it was done correctly (and is backed by the warranty and dispute resolution aspects of the AAA-approved repair facility program). I’ll continue to take our cars there (as do my children who are now grown and have families of their own, and who remember us using Horsman when they were kids or new teenage drivers).
