I had a wonderful experience with Ping and would recommend Mrs P Stitches to anyone for any kind of bridal alterations. For some context: I was extremely disappointed in the store I purchased my dress from (Blu Ivory) for having ordered my dress in a much larger size than what was needed, which required a lot of alterations that I think could have been avoided almost entirely if the dress was ordered to fit me, so I was feeling very discouraged and not excited about my dress overall, when I initially reached out to Mrs P Stitches about a quote. Thankfully Susanna was helpful from the moment I reached out, and Ping did a fantastic job. Not only was the price lower than some of the other places I reached out to, but the service was above and beyond what I had hoped for. Ping is considerate, kind and accommodating, and even let me keep my dress in her store (after it was ready) until the week prior to my wedding, so I could do one last fitting to make sure it was a perfect fit. Never once did I feel rushed, or like I had to make any decision I wasn't comfortable with, and I'm absolutely thrilled with how the dress turned out, and I got a ton of compliments on it on the day. After purchasing my wedding dress from a boutique in Markham, I knew I wanted to get alterations done closer to home (I live downtown), especially knowing it would take several fittings. That's when I found Mrs. P Stitches online! I never met THE Mrs. P herself, but no worries… Victoria is the FANTASTIC seamstress who worked on my dress from start to finish. It was also a pleasure to chat in-person with Susanna, the Director of Operations, and via email with Mary, the team's admin assistant. I brought my dress in knowing it needed several customizations to fit my vision. I was a bit nervous whether it could all be pulled off since it was a form-fitting dress (i.e. not too much material or "give" to begin with), and I had an entirely different visual in mind for the corset/bust/sleeve areas. I had no need to worry — Victoria listened carefully to all my ramblings during the initial fitting and executed flawlessly on every point. We: - hemmed the dress; - added a 3-point bustle; - took in the bust and added cup inserts; - took in the lace sleeves to custom-fit my arms; - let out the hips; - removed a large, thick satin strap across the bust as well as matching drop sleeves across the arms; - and refined the sweetheart neckline to be a bit softer and more modest. Victoria even took some leftover chantilly lace from the hemline to blend in the underbust — you would never guess from the final look that the underbust area was originally 'unfinished' and was never meant to be seen! 🤯 The only disclaimer I will make is the price point was high compared to other tailoring services. I chose to take my “second look” dress (a shorter dress for the late night dancing) to a regular (non-bridal) tailor for alterations and they did a lovely job for $300 flat. My recommendation is: if you know you only need a couple simple alterations (ex. shortening hemline, nipping the waist in or letting out the hips a bit), you're better off saving your money by going to a reputable, non-bridal tailor without the "wedding" price tag. But if you think you'll need several detailed, complex alterations with access to unlimited fittings, and you prefer a white-glove experience with attention to detail until the dress is absolutely perfect, you will not go wrong with Mrs. P Stitches! I had such an amazing experience here. The wonderful, talented seamstresses at Mrs P Stitches turned my dress into the wedding dress of my dreams! Everyone was super communicative, kind, thoughtful and just crazy talented. I ended up wanting to do one last minute alteration very close to my wedding date and the team here not only accommodated me in the middle of wedding season but did my alteration the same day, and even gave me a gift card to a local coffee shop to go to while I waited. I cannot recommend this place enough, truly a magical place run by amazing artists and people! Thank you for everything!!!
