I gave Sacramento River Dental Group multiple chances to address a billing issue, and they completely failed to take responsibility or even follow up. That alone tells you a lot about how this office operates.
I was a patient here for about two years, mainly because I liked my hygienist. She is no longer with the practice—and after this experience, neither am I.
Here’s why this is a one-star review:
1) Misleading information and zero accountability
In July 2025, I went in for a routine visit with X-rays and a cleaning. The office pushed for a full set of X-rays because my insurance would “cover it.” I made it very clear I did not want to pay anything out of pocket and was explicitly told the X-rays would be fully covered. Based on that, I agreed.
Months later, in February 2026, I received a bill for $107. When I called, I was told my insurance didn’t cover the full amount. That directly contradicts what I was told at the time of service. I was promised a call back from management to resolve it—no one ever called.
In March, I received another bill. I called again and was told, once again, that management would follow up. Again—no call, no explanation, no accountability.
I eventually paid the $107, but the issue isn’t the amount—it’s the fact that they said one thing to get consent and then took no responsibility afterward.
2) Payment-first mentality
This office is very aggressive about collecting money upfront. For anything beyond a basic cleaning, they expect payment before services are performed. I’ve been to many dental and medical offices, and this stands out—in a bad way.
3) Questionable treatment experience
I had a filling done by someone who was not the dentist. The work ended up having issues, and I had to return to have it redone. That’s not something I’ve experienced elsewhere, and it raises concerns about the level of care.
4) Poor scheduling practices
I had a cleaning scheduled well in advance for December 30, 2025. Just days before, they called to cancel because they decided to close for the holidays. As a result, I couldn’t reschedule in time and missed out on my second insurance-covered cleaning for the year. That’s poor planning on their part, and the patient pays the price.
After reading other reviews, it’s clear this office has changed since it was sold. From my experience, the focus is no longer on patient care—it’s on billing and collections.
If you choose to come here, be very cautious about what you agree to, and don’t rely on verbal assurances about insurance coverage.
