Cabinet Office is located in London, at the corner of Whitehall and Downing Street. It sits directly adjacent to the entrance of Downing Street, the official residence and office of the British Prime Minister. Known historically as the Treasury Buildings, it is a Grade I listed structure, designed in a classical style. This specific wing, which is shown in my picture, was designed by architect Charles Barry during the 19thC and is part of a larger complex, which houses the Privy Council Office. The building features a grand classical facade with prominent Corinthian columns and ornate detailing. A street sign for 'Whitehall SW1' is shown clearly in the building's corner, in the pictures attached along with. The building features ornate classical columns and is constructed from light-colored stone. This site is part of the larger historic Whitehall area, which once housed the massive Palace of Whitehall before it was largely destroyed by fire in 1698. The Cabinet Office is a ministerial department of the Government of the United Kingdom. It is responsible for supporting the prime minister and Cabinet. It is composed of various units that support Cabinet committees and coordinate the delivery of government objectives via other departments. As of December 2021, it had more than 10,200 staff, mostly kniwn as civil servants, some of whom work in Whitehall. An interesting place to see, for me. I specifically liked the elegance of the buildings darkened trimmings. My visit to London during 2024, was worth every bit of time spent there, while soaking in the history of the place.
