We were on our way to Charleston and in Fernandina Beach for one night (a Sunday). After finishing dinner, most of the stores were closed but we wanted to see the town centre. We were window shopping and saw Cottonways was open(it was open until 10:30 pm-thank you). We went inside and what a wonderful visual and tactile experience it was!! The clothing, shoes, handbags and jewelry were so unique and beautiful! The highlight of my day was the sweet person working named Bobbie. My husband had picked out a top for me to try on and Bobbie started me a fitting room. She was interactive and inviting without being over the top. Once she saw my style she asked if she could pull a few things and put it in my fitting room. I have never had such personalized help. I worked women’s retail for years and that is how I treated people but I have never had this experience myself! She told me a little about the owner and that her husband hand painted garments in the store! She would show me and tell me about different pieces that I may not have seen on my own. Bobbie was kind, non-judgmental (I looked pretty rough after a long travel day..she was young and I am older)…It was so fun! I had had a really tough day and Bobbie made my day! It was so fun to shop somewhere like this instead of Amazon and cookie cutter department stores! Definitely go check it out!

What a great store run by lovely people! I recently stumbled upon them during a rainstorm and they not only kindly showed me around, but also had very helpful and practical recommendations for putting together an outfit I wore that same day. I've worn the dress a couple of times now and had so many compliments on what is a comfortable, practical, and stylish find.

What an absolute treasure of a shop it felt like stepping into a movie. Cindi was a GEM she was incredibly helpful explained that it was a local store and designer dedicated to 100% natural fibers which I am also very passionate about. She reserved a fitting room for me when she saw me walking around the store with a couple items, encouraged me to try them on to double check the fit and answered all of my questions about sourcing and care for the clothes I was buying. AND THE CLOTHES never have I seen such a variety of high quality natural fiber in different styles and colors in the same store. Vibrant deep purples and light sage greens as well as pastels and more lived in washed out greys and browns. I will be revisiting cottonways over and over and keeping an eye on thier catalogue as they remind me of some of my favorite vintage 90s niche brands like M.U.D.D. and The Pyramid Collection
