We attempted to set up gas service with the City of Long Beach utility services, and a technician was sent to our location. However, the technician informed us that our address didn’t have access to gas service, meaning we wouldn’t be able to get gas at all. I called to cancel the setup, yet we were still charged approximately $40—even though no service was provided. Unfortunately, that payment bounced, and we were then charged nearly double just to close the account. We find it unreasonable to be billed for a service that was never available to us in the first place, and the additional charges only added to the frustration.

I’ve been trying to get my gas service restored and no one answers the phone. My payments are fully up to date, and I’ve called and emailed multiple times, but still haven’t received any response. I’ve followed up many times with no luck. This has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.

If you’re trying to get gas turned on at your apartment, you pretty much have to pray to god that they come at a time that conveniences them. I tried to get gas turned yesterday (my move in date) and I told them I couldn’t get my keys until after one. They said yeah that’s prefect, their appointment window was from 12 to 4. I incorrectly assumed the person I was talking to made a note not to come by until 1. I missed them by about 10 minutes of course, but I had too many things to move and deal with so I decided I would call them the next day. Called them back and 1: They don’t operate on Friday or the week. And 2: they will absolutely under no circumstances tell their technicians to come at any specific time. My partner and I are at school until about 1 every weekday so we will still probably miss the next appointment. The technician works in a window from 12 to 4 so why can’t they just tell them NOT to go to my apartment in the first hour or so? Here’s to my partner and I having to take cold showers and not using the stove for the foreseeable future. And cheers to all the technicians who get sent and routes to flick on gas switches all day, and apparently are unable to receive even the slightest special instruction.
